3 Steps To Start Your Year Off Right

Hello I'm Laura Rotter of True Abundance Advisors and I'd like to share with you three ideas for how to start this new year 2021 off right.

The first idea is focus on things you can control. if 2020 has taught us anything it's that life frankly many things in life are not within our control but what is within our control is what we focus on. Our tendency as humans is to focus on what is going wrong so I encourage you to take the time to focus on what is going right. Today you might be able to see the sun is streaming through my office. I'm warm, I have clean clothes, I've taken a wonderful warm shower.

These may sound like little things, but if I remind myself each day of the things that are going right it gives me the capacity to move on to my second point; which is set small achievable goals. So another tenancy we as humans have is to start a new year off and say I'm going to lose 20 pounds I'm going to run a marathon setting these big goals that may get us excited at the beginning of the year, but over time could actually drag us down to again getting us to focus on the negative. I didn't go for a run this week. I ate that whole pint of ice cream last night.  If instead we focus on tomorrow morning, I'm going to get up and go for a run this evening. I'm going to pick a healthier snack. and then focus on what we do achieve and take that next step and the next step after that, you will turn around at the end of the year and see that you have indeed reached a large goal by breaking it down into small achievable steps.

My last point and frankly one I think is the most important to help us achieve the first two, is to be kinder to yourself. As I reflect on all I've achieved over the last couple of years, moved from a place of constriction waking up 5:30 in the morning in the dark and commuting to a job I didn't enjoy. To what I'm doing now it came from a place of self-compassion of understanding that I was in pain and that I needed to make a change and that I wasn't going to push myself to do things that weren't bringing me joy but instead I was going to be kind to that inner voice. That voice that knew that I needed something different. What I love about what I do is that I help my clients move from a place of fear pain and overwhelm to a place of clarity and purpose. If you would like help moving forward into your best life in 2021 please reach out to me. I'd love to have a conversation. I hope for you that 2021 is a year of living your life on purpose.
